OPES 2025

PROJECT SHOWCASE SESSION

After the success of 2024 event, we are excited to announce that 2025 edition of the conference will be even bigger and better, with an expanded agenda focused on Navigating the Energy Transition Through Innovation in Oil and Gas.

As the global energy landscape continues to evolve, it is crucial to address these pressing challenges. At the conference, industry experts from various fields will share their invaluable insights on how we can innovate and collaborate to navigate the energy transition successfully.

Our mission is to provide a platform for companies and individuals to showcase their groundbreaking projects that contribute to sustainable and clean energy solutions. These projects play a vital role in shaping the future of the energy industry, and we are excited to feature them in a dedicated session during the conference.

REQUIRED CRITERIA

Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability
Project embeds HSE principles and sustainability into full life cycle of the project (concept to abandonment). Projects should demonstrate highest achievements in HSE i.e., highest workers welfare, safest operations, and smallest carbon footprint.
Business Impact and Significance to the Oil and Gas Energy Transition
Project shows business impact such as growing production, increasing income or cost reduction. Project shall show clear economic value quantifying clearly the direct impact of the project on cost and benefits while reducing the hydrocarbon footprint in a measured way.
Technology and Innovation in the Energy Transition
Project should be unique, creative, and contains applicability diversification towards the industry. The project should demonstrate collaboration to implement or develop the technology. Involving a different environment and a diverse team will also be a plus for the project.
Scalability
Project is applicable on a large scale for different environments. Project submission shall show evidence of scalability to different geographies or fields.

Realized savings of $15 million through the implementation of a unique dual-ram BOP design, improving the wellhead configuration and ensuring safer, more efficient operations in BP and PCP wells

A novel dual ram integrated BOP design was introduced to modernize PCP/BP low-risk wells, replacing infrastructure unchanged for over four decades. This solution reduced wellhead height by 1.5 meters, eliminating scaffolding and significantly lowering safety risks. It saved around 1,000 work hours annually during hoist and FBU interventions, reducing exposure to operational hazards. The design improved FBU efficiency during tubing flushing, reduced maintenance costs, and minimized manpower needs through enhanced flexible PCP drive head performance. It also removed the need for extra construction to install concrete bases for BP pumping units and unlocked previously constrained production potential in BP wells due to stroke length limitations. Deployed across more than 2,000 wells, this solution has resulted in over $15 million USD in total cost savings, including direct material reductions and lower operating expenses. These improvements have significantly enhanced safety, operational efficiency, and long-term value across the field.

LPG Energy Source to Replace Diesel Project
The Green Energy Solutions – Gas to Power Well Engineering Units project replaces diesel generators with gas-powered gensets across drilling operations to enhance sustainability, reduce emissions, and improve operational efficiency. This initiative significantly lowers carbon footprints, noise pollution, and fuel spill risks while improving occupational health and safety for rig personnel. By integrating automated load management, AI-driven predictive maintenance, and remote monitoring, the project ensures reliable, optimized power generation. It supports Oman Vision 2040 and global net-zero goals, reducing operational costs by 30% through the use of local natural gas resources. Scalable and modular, the solution sets a benchmark for clean energy transition in the oil and gas industry, fostering a more resilient and sustainable future.

Carbon Steps Indonesia: Implementing CCUS-EOR One Phase at a Time
The CCUS-Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) project at Pertamina Indonesia exemplifies the integration of Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability (HSE) principles across its full lifecycle. Operating in a high CO₂ and H₂S environment near a dense population, the project employs rigorous safety protocols, phased implementation, and real-time monitoring to mitigate risks. Leveraging NESR technologies such as the Virtual Pipeline, INDAH-TM, and DARA-TM, it enables flexible, scalable CO₂ injection without permanent infrastructure. The project has increased oil production by 15%, demonstrating clear economic value through enhanced output, cost optimization, and reduced emissions. It captures approximately 2 million tons of CO₂ annually, aligning with Indonesia’s decarbonization targets. Through modular technology and a phased strategy, the initiative presents a replicable model for diverse fields and geographies. This project strengthens Pertamina’s position in the energy transition, proving that profitability, technological innovation, and environmental stewardship can advance together toward a low-carbon future.
