What inspired you to be part of the OPES 2025 journey as a Brand Ambassador?
Working at a company like Bureau Veritas, where one of our core values is trust — the belief that we are here to create trust — I was inspired when top management placed their trust in me to represent the organization. This opportunity reflects not only their confidence in me but also aligns with my commitment to uphold and promote our values.
Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you got involved in the energy sector?
I hold a bachelor’s degree in health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), backed by four years of hands-on experience in both HSE and project management roles. This combination has given me solid exposure to the energy sector and a deeper understanding of how it operates on the ground. Being part of Bureau Veritas—a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification—has opened doors to work on diverse projects, collaborate with key players in the industry, and grow within a dynamic and impactful environment. It’s been a valuable journey that continues to shape my professional path in the energy field.
What does energy mean to you personally—beyond the technical definition?
To me, energy means growth, connection, and a better future. It’s something that touches every part of our lives — from lighting our homes to powering industries. Working in the energy sector makes me feel proud because I know I’m part of something important. It’s not just about power or fuel; it’s about helping people live better lives and supporting the development of our country in a safe and sustainable way.
How is Oman uniquely positioned in the global energy landscape?
Oman has a strong place in the global energy sector because of its location, experience, and natural resources. For years, Oman has been known for its oil and gas, but now the country is also focusing on clean and renewable energy. With Oman Vision 2040, the country is moving toward a more balanced energy future. This includes using solar and wind power, improving energy efficiency, and protecting the environment. Oman’s long-term plan shows that it’s not just keeping up with global changes — it’s taking real steps to lead in a more sustainable and responsible way.
How do you plan to use your platform as a Brand Ambassador to engage the wider community?
With my experience in project management, I plan to use this role to show how effective planning, and teamwork can lead to successful outcomes in the energy sector. By being involved in real projects, I want to highlight how young professionals can take responsibility, build skills, and contribute to the future of the industry. This role gives me a chance to set a positive example through the work I do every day.
How can industry leaders balance sustainability with profitability?
I believe industry leaders can find a balance by thinking long-term. Instead of just focusing on immediate profits, they invest in sustainable solutions that reduce waste and save energy. This not only helps the environment but also lowers costs and creates new business opportunities. Being responsible and transparent also builds a good reputation, which attracts customers and partners. So, by caring for the planet and their bottom line at the same time, companies can grow in a way that’s good for everyone.
What advice would you give to young professionals entering the oil and gas or energy space?
My advice is to stay curious and keep learning, especially about new technologies like AI. Artificial Intelligence is transforming the energy sector by improving safety, efficiency, and decision-making. Embracing these tools and focusing on sustainability and safety will help young professionals build strong, future-proof careers.
In one word, how would you describe the future of energy in the region?
Sustainable
